We at IWRAW Asia Pacific unite with friends and colleagues nationally, regionally and internationally, with women from around the world and with all those who unequivocally condemn the war being waged on the Iraqi people. We express our solidarity with the women, men and children who have been and will be innocent victims of this ugly war. We call upon world leaders to immediately, wholly and urgently halt this campaign of war and dedicate themselves and their nations to finding a peaceful means of resolving this crisis, including via the UN system. We call for the recognition of women's human rights, and the empowerment of Iraqi women and children, at home and in exile and we demand that they be the central subjects and active participants in the peaceful reconstruction of their country. We support all of you in your advocacy for peace and reconciliation in Iraq, in the Middle East and in the world.
