CEDAW
Committee starting work on General Recommendation on Article 2 of
the CEDAW Convention (i.e.
State obligation to eliminate discrimination against women).
At its 30th
Session in January 2004, the CEDAW Committee decided to begin elaboration
of a new General Recommendation, on Article 2 of the CEDAW Convention
(i.e. State obligation to eliminate discrimination against women).
Work on this will commence at the Committee's 31st Session, scheduled
to take place from 6 to 23 July 2004. The Committee welcomes submissions
by NGOs on the subject of the proposed General Recommendation. If
you would like to contribute to this process or need further information
on how to get involved, please contact IWRAW Asia Pacific. For those
